My 1st Songwriting Workshop

jim-guitar-n-shades1

A lot of people through the years have asked me how it is to write songs since I have written many songs and hits throughout 4 decades. I have been wanting to really do a workshop on it. Well now I finally will.

DATE: August 14 and 15

TIME: 1 to 6 PM

PLACE: 113 B. Gonzales , Lyola Heights, QC

COST: 5,000 PESOS

Requirements: Must know how to play an instrument- Guitar or Piano.

Course description: I will teach you the basics of songwriting. This will touch on topics such as melodic structures and lines, lyrics, arrangements, musical and lyrical hooks, in different musical genres. I will also teach you how to make existing songs you have to be more exciting, richer in chord structure and progession.

This will be a very hands-on course. I will guide, encourage and teach you and will also criticize your work constructively.

If you, my student are ready, your teacher will appear. For reservations, write to emailjimp@gnmail.com or call 4265375 and 09168554303.

I will take in only a few students.

  1. Hi Jim,

Your workshop – will it be entirely a Pop writing song? Just would like to explore your subject matter to be offered to youths- is it the Basic Fundamental of Music…? Harmony? Structure of Staffs? Triads? Or the different kinds of Music Chords? Augmented, Diminished? Minors? And Majors?

Help… be glad to know more as to whether it will supplement our students’ knowledge in preparatory to a Conservatory Course in Collegiate Level?

    Thanks,
    Irene

  2. Not, it won’t be that technical though it may informally touch on some of those aspects. This is about the structure, chords, lyrics, beats, emotional content and progressions, plus insights I have about what makes good songs. i will listen to compositions of students and give my comments, and suggestions on how I feel it can be better.

Call me at 4265375 if you have further questions.

  3. Sayang, just found out today about the workshop. Been looking for one for a long time. When would be the next one?

  4. Super post

I know how learning piano can be. My brother is a really good piano player, and myself I am making my way as professional .

I recommend to anyone who’s thinking of starting to playing piano to read a book or two on this topic, as there so many mistakes and blunders that are possible to make when you first start. And keep playing each and everyday!

Thanks for sharing this with your us.
